The holidays are coming up, which means that the 2013 New Year is just around the corner. As you have come off of your Thanksgiving food coma, and are about to enter your Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities, it’s time to start thinking about your 2013 New Year’s Resolutions!
So what’s a great resolution for your New Year?
Develop a Healthy Habit
This New Year is the time to make a change and develop a new habit in your life. How do you develop a new habit?
According to Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit, there are three keys to building a habit:
1) A cue or trigger. For example, your alarm clock rings, which wakes you up.
2) A routine. You wake up and turn off your alarm clock, and do a short fun Pilates workout to warm your cold body and get the blood flowing.
3) A reward. Your alarm clock stops ringing, and you are rewarded with being awake and ready to kick off your awesome day, warmed up and ready to kick butt at work or school! Reward yourself with a healthy breakfast and prepare to have a great day!
